Hoot is Girls' Generation's third mini-album. The mini-album was later released in Japan with a slightly different tracklist (but the same original Korean songs). All the songs included on this mini-album and its different versions were Korean-language songs.

Background[]

S.M. Entertainment posted an audio teaser and three posters of Bond girls and Austin Powers series theme on October 19, 2010 on the official Girls' Generation website. The girls' style evoked classical 1970s pin-up girls, along with Western-style cowgirls. The teaser was released on SM Entertainment's official YouTube Channel and Girls' Generation's official website on October 24, at 12AM KST. The album contains a total of 5 songs, including an R&B ballad called "Mistake" wrote by member Kwon Yuri.

The song won Triple Crown on Inkigayo on November 28, 2010 and won 5 times on Music Bank of KBS.

Sales and Charts[]

The song "Hoot" charted on the Gaon 2010 digital yearly charts at #28 with 2,138,179 in sales. The group attended the Melon Music Awards winning Hot Trend Song award for the song, as well as the Artist of the Year award and the Best Dressed Singer award.

A day before the Korean edition of the mini-album was released it received 150,000 pre-orders. The mini-album reached #3 on the Gaon 2010 yearly charts with 163,066 copies sold, and a total of 192,375 copies as of 2015. Overseas, it is Girls' Generation best-selling Korean album in Japan, selling 171,294+ copies there, and in Taiwan, selling 26,000 copies there, all combined would be a total of 389,669+ copies sold in Asia.
